Chrysanthemum Tea

I drink tea.

I drink a lot of tea.

And one of the particular tea that I like to drink, is the chrysanthemum tea.

Now, what exactly is a 'Chrysanthemum?'

Well, from my understanding, it's one of the flowers that are commonly use during traditional Chinese funerals. But anyway, I hope I didn't turn you off. *ahem* For Funerals, we use the white ones. For tea, we usually use the Yellow ones.

Remember the movie, The Curse of the Golden Flower? The chrysanthemum flowers were massively used in the palace during the festival.

(See those flowers on the sides?)

The 'dry' leaves looks like this:

But after you pour hot water in the cup, the dry blups absorbs the moisture, and then they will blossom into this:

Lovely, isn't it?

But a co-worker who walked by my cubical, screamed "Oh My God! What are you drinking?! ONION JUICE?! That's Disgusting!!!"

I mean, what?! What?! What the heck are you talking about?

F**K Your Onion Juice!

Of course I didn't say that. I explain to her that it's a type of floral tea.

She left with one eyebrow raised so hight that made her looked like .

of course non-tea drinkers are totally clueless :)

i drink crysanthemum tea as well as jasmine, both of which are flowers, although jasmine doesn't seem to be quite as jarring, i think.

also, in the US, crysanthemums are more commonly known as "mums" which i don't think are suitable for tea...

Last time I drank that, there were little buggies inside my tea.

I stick mostly to green tea. I think in another life, I must've been Japanese.

Milkie: Ah, I didn't know the expression of "Mum" - that's very interesting. :)

Paul: yeah, there have been experiences where I got buggies in my tea. hehe, I picked them out of my cup with chopsticks and then finish my tea afterwards.

Angelo: Starbucks uses the Green Tea Powder, which is very high in fiber. It's good!!! I love passion fruit!!

I'm not a tea drinker, so I have no comment at all. I do know it's good for you, but you know ...

I love crysanthemum tea. I still remember when I was little, I'd go to this restaurant for dimsum with my parents and they'd bring out the teapot with rock sugar on the side for taste. I'd always end up eating all of the sugar.

ryc: Kimchi refers to being Korean. I'm trying to be sly while basically telling this guy through my blind item to step off. I don't want to have to take off my earrings and bitch slap someone lol

My cousin got this tea from Taiwan, and it's actually a dried flower bud... You put the whole thing in a glass, pour hot water, and you see it opens up! AND it's yummy.

Anyway, I find it kool! heh! Hello Wayne!

PS. No sexual implication/reference/connotation in this comment. Ain't that something? :-)

For Bangkok, I strongly recemmend to visiting the floating marking. In fact, there are many floating markets in thailand but Dam nern sa duak is the original one. The market is actually a canal full of boats selling everything: noodles, fruits, souvenirs, handicrafts, and many more. If you don't wish to pay 1000 Baht for the long tail boat tour , you may just take a non-motor boat instead, it cost only 200 Baht.
